New Hair!

Okay, it’s not that new. I cut my hair yesterday. I just had plain side bangs and medium length hair, all about one length. When it was straight I kind of channeled Demi Lovato. Here’s a photo of the “before” hair.

Photo 22

I cut my hair into a million layers and trimmed my bangs. I’m still growing it out, so I kept the length. I want my hair to be about down to my back, so I’ve still got a lot of growing to do, but I got the hair styled the way I want it so all I have to do now is upkeep on my ends. Here’s the final result, I was going for a Miley Cyrus type thing with all the choppy ends and layers and angles, so we’ll see how that worked.

Voila! I really love it and can’t wait to grow it out some more. Oh, and fun fact: Joe Jonas got his hair cut the other day, too. Yay for haircuts!

Post Secret Event

Today was one of the worst days of my life. I got a 61 on my French test, for starters. Later, after my Women’s Studies class, I realized I forgot my jacket in French class, so I went back to the classroom to see if it was there – it wasn’t. I had lost my brown Northface somewhere in BU. I checked lost and found – nothing. I called my mom to tell her I lost it and left a message, but my phone had run out of battery so she had no way of getting back to me. I went upstairs again to look around some more, and while I was there I checked my Psychology grade. I got a 64 on that test. Great. This is the part where I start crying in the middle of the hallway because I apparently suck at school and am incapable of taking care of my belongings.

On a whim, I checked my e-mail. My french teacher e-mailed me! He had found my jacket, and I could go to his office to get it. I could have hugged him, I was so happy. I high-tailed it back to my dorm and finally talked to my mom and explained that all was well. Things could only go up from here.

I worked on my Public Service Announcement project with Arielle, Cady and Drew. Then, I went to the Post Secret Event at Boston University.

Oh. My. Gosh. It was absolutely INCREDIBLE. Frank is an amazing speaker, and the secrets he shared with us were all really interesting – but the best part was when we could share secrets and stories with him. Some were funny, some inspirational. Taja, my SA from orientation the summer before I started here had an amazing secret. She told everyone that she was a big girl and she LOVES her body. Speaking as someone who has her own body issues – it meant a lot to me that she was able to share that and it inspired me to not sweat the small stuff like when I’m not feeling my best when it comes to my body.

I promised myself I wouldn’t cry, but of course I did. In the last video before Frank signed books (by the way, I couldn’t get one. I didn’t bring my debit card and they weren’t letting us charge our BU accounts.) there was a secret about a girl who wished she was a better sister like her brother. The brother who took his own life. I’ve learned in the past two years since not being at home all the time that I really really REALLY love my little brother. He’s the baby of the family and I feel like it’s my job to protect him at all costs. I don’t know what I would do if he weren’t with me anymore. I don’t know how I would go on blaming myself. That one really got me.

I really hope that Frank comes back here again, and that when he does, I’ll be able to stand up and tell him that I sent my secret to him.

But until then, I’ll share a small secret with you:

Even though I always laugh at the out-of-staters at Boston University who complain about the cold for being weak, I’m with them. I really hate being cold and the winter, probably more than they do!

College Has Taken Over My Life.

Hi. My name is Jillian and I suck at updating because I’m in college and I go to class, do homework, and waste time playing games and watching hockey.

Last weekend (Columbus Day Weekend) I went home. When I say home, I mean Colleen’s house (Colleen, you’ve been mentioned!) for Saturday night after BU Hockey beat the U-18 USA team. The next day we celebrated her cousin Kayla’s birthday, then we picked up Shannon and Katie and went to Salem!

I have lived in Massachusetts my entire life and I have never been to Salem at night in October ever. I’ve watched Hocus Pocus. I’ve gone once during October, during the day a bunch of times, and driven through it a million times when going to my cousin Susan’s house. But I had never been there at night in October. Until now.

It was awesome. Colleen and I went to see a psychic. I love those things. I take them with a grain of salt, but I think they’re really fun and love to see them. My psychic read my tarot cards and told me I’d definitely go to London next fall, but I would learn a lot and it won’t be what I expect. He also told me that I have a lot of stress in my future, and that sucks. He also said I would meet my husband soon!

After that we did a 90 minute walking tour around Salem. We hit up all the usual places, including where Giles Corey was pressed to death and some haunted houses. It was mainly historical with some scary stories in between, but it was all really cool and interesting.

Then Katie and Colleen went back to my house and we slept in the living room. They were annoyed by Nick, but I slept fine. I told them we could have slept upstairs in comfy beds. But noooo! They wanted to sleep in the living room. They tried to make pancakes that were gluten-free since they couldn’t find the bisquick (my parents found it when they got home). The pancakes were gross, so we threw it all out. They were gross because they’re Passover-pancakes. Ew.

And then I was back to school.

So, here’s why I don’t update.

My usual days I wake up at 9:30, go to breakfast at ten. Then I have class at 11 until either 2 (T&TH) or 4 (MWF). I love my classes. I think I’m doing okay. I still go to hockey games. I hang out with my usual crowd, and I update my other blog.

I promise to be better here. I’ll update even when I do boring stuff.

First Day

Today was my first day of classes. I had COM at eleven and psychology at three.

Best. Classes. Ever.

My COM professor is SO cool. She’s a local, raised her kids in Lexington, lives in Arlington. Her kids went to the same elementary school my mom did. The elementary school I learned to play baseball at. She has written for New England magazines, so if I need to start out at a local magazine (a.k.a. not Seventeen) then I have a place to go. If she likes me slash my writing.

Then I had a lovely lunch with Sarah and then I killed time by facebooking in the COM building.

Psychology. Professor equals the shit. She’s so cool. She’s really funny and Psychology seems REALLY cool and interesting. My mom thinks I’ll love it. I think I’ll love it, too.

Oh, and I was in the Boston Globe for living in StuVi2 HERE

Second first day tomorrow. Ice skating on Friday! Can’t wait!

The New Digs

So, I suck at updating. I was SO good at first, and then I just stopped.

It’s because my life was pretty boring for awhile. Work ended, and then I went to dinner with my friends from work one night. After that I basically just sat by the pool every day, read a book, hung out with friends. I bought new stuff for school and made a pretty t-shirt with Katie and Colleen. They’re “memory shirts.” We recorded memories with each other and put our names on the back and then signed each other’s shirts with cute little notes. This is them (thanks to Katie for the picture).

Pretty pretty. The next day I moved into my room! Whoo! So yeah, I’m living in a new building called Student Village 2 (StuVi2). I’m on the tenth floor and I look over the city of Boston. It’s kind of super gorgeous. Seriously. So yeah, Arielle and I are sharing a double, then Kara and Anna have singles. We share a bathroom. Half our suite is empty. Yeah. An eight-person suite with four people. We have a lot of room to ourselves.

Here’s the tour. We’ll start with my side. Kara and Ariel are by my bed. Kara has my Jonas Brother’s Rolling Stone Special Edition. So cool.

Next we have the bathroom. There are three photos of it because it’s that big, so here’s the basics. You walk in and the sink is on the right and the door to the toilet/shower is on the left. In front of you there is a big closet. Competely filled with shampoos and body washes and everything. THAT I will post a picture of because it’s gotten a lot of “wow’s.” The sink has our toothbrushes and other miscellaneous stuff. Purell. Whatever. The toilet has shelves over it with MORE stuff. We also have a pretty new shower curtain.

Here’s the ridiculous closet:

Yeah. And there’s more. That’s right.

Finally, it’s our common room, complete with Wii system and Rock Band 2. I have a TV with a DVD player, plus my Wii and a few games. We have a couch and two chairs, plus a table with four chairs. It’s amazing.

So. There’s the tour. Classes start tomorrow. I’ll try to update each day, even if it’s just “Hey, listen to this great band!” or “Hey, go see this movie!”

I promise.

Teen Choice Awards

The Teen Choice Awards (hosted this year by the Jonas Brothers) begin at 8:00 EST. Yes, I will be live blogging. About fifteen minutes until start time.

Haha. It’s starting with the boys asking Obama about if Joe is better looking than Rob Pattinson (Mr. President doesn’t think s0, but yes to Chace Crawford).

Much Better is the first song they’re playing. Love it. What a great song, and they’re doing so well.

George Lopez is hilarious. Some funny teen/latino jokes. Muy interesante. I speak French. Sue me. He’s presenting choice tv actor/actress. The winners are Leighton Meester and Chace Crawford, they’re also accepting for choice teen drama for Gossip Girl! Congratulations all around now, so I don’t have to type, “Congratulations” a million times.

The cast of iCarly is talking about twitter. I love how they’re incorporating the networking site into the show. The winner is: Ellen Degeneres! I love her. “If you’re following me, you can win 1,000 dollars to put towards college, or to buy beer.” Oh, Ellen. It’s TEEN Choice Awards.

Commercial for Fame. It looks REALLY good. You know I’ll see it.

Jordin Sparks! Oh, it’s like a reunion for me from my Jonas Brothers concert last month. She’s talking about the dares. Uh oh. More on that later.

Choice Movie Comedy Actor presented by Corbin and Ashley. The winner is Zac Efron. Hmm, did he win that because of how long he’s been acting in comedies and how well he does it, or because he has a pretty face? I’m going with option B, though I do love that pretty face. It looks like he’s won a bunch of other awards, though I didn’t catch them all.

Sean Kingston is performing Fire Burning now! Love this song. Definitely a summer anthem for the year. I heard his performance was going to be good, and it definitely lived up to expectations, exceeded them, even. Amazing performance. Two thumbs up.

Dare time! Joe’s up first. Oh, his beautiful hair. In the hands of Mike Tyson. Chelsea Staub looks more scared than Joe does. Everyone looks so shocked. There is no way he really did it. I guess we’ll see later on how his hair looks (probably the same).

Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere are presenting Choice Fresh Faces, and Taylor Lautner and Ashley Greene won. Ashley totally deserved it, but Taylor has been around for a while. His superstardom is only recent, but I’ve loved him since Cheaper by the Dozen 2.

Emily Osment is adorable. I wonder how her brother is doing. Haven’t seen or heard from him in awhile. Choice movie winner for action/adventure is Harry Potter, comedy is UP, Romance is The Proposal. Summer movie star is Shia LaBeouf. Television choice breakout female is Demi Lovato (who’s on tour) and male is Frankie Jonas! So cute. Love that little kid.

Anyway. During commercial I am going to talk about Frankie. Right after I mention the movie Post Grad with Alexis Bledel. Who I love. She’s so cute.

Back to Frankie. He is ADORABLE and so funny in J.O.N.A.S. I’m glad that he’s doing so well, and that he’s making a name for himself, other than “The Jonas Brothers’ Little Brother.” I can’t wait to see what else he does in the future.

My Sister’s Keeper just won an award. I didn’t finish the book because it upset me, and I still need to see the movie. Abigail Breslin is adorable and so talented so young! Cameron Diaz is hilarious, and the older sister (her name escapes me) is so cute! Her hair is really short, though. I wonder if she shaved it for real in the movie.

Miley Cyrus has made history. Good for her! Choice music single with The Climb, choice hissyfit in Hannah Montana: The Movie, choice movie actress song/dance in the film, Choice TV actress in a comedy for Hannah Montana, choice tv show comedy for the same, and choice song of the summer with Before the Storm (and the Jonas Brothers). Performance time with Party in the U.S.A. So excited!

So.. the performance. Not as scandalous as everyone tried to make it out to be. I loved it, and I love the song. Wonderful job to a beautiful girl! Congratulations Miley!

Choice summer TV female winner is the beautiful Selena Gomez! Also for choice summer TV show for Princess Protection Program (a… movie?) and some fashion award.

Dane Cook is presenting the choice Hottie (male and female). I love Dane. He grew up a town or two over from me. The winners are Megan Fox and Rob Pattinson. Not a big fan of the winners. Megan is beautiful.. Rob is good looking in a different way.. but he probably wouldn’t have gotten my vote.

Kevin’s dare! He has to get a tattoo. Kat Von Dee is going to give it to him. She’s tattooing the face of the next winner (choice actor in an action/adventure movie). I saw a picture already, so I know it’s a picture of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Kevin is funny, pretending he doesn’t know that it’s permanent. Don’t worry, Kev. The dares are fake.

Black Eyed Peas performance! I love this song. One of the reasons is that at one point it goes, “Fill up my cup. Drink! Mazel Tov! L’Chaim.” This performance is less of a production than Miley’s and Sean’s were. Still good, though, if slightly less entertaining. Oh, and in case you were wondering, L’Chaim means to life. It’s Hebrew. Mazel Tov means Congratulations. So Mazel Tov to all the winners!

Kevin is coming out with the tattoo. “I cried.” Okay, there, bud. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in X-Men Origins. Good for him. He’s hilarious and a wonderful performer. Kevin has to go backstage and wash the pen off his arm.

Dare Time. Nick’s turn. He has to hug 20 Jonas Brothers fans in 20 seconds, including Kim Kardashian. Kim won’t let go. Whistle is blown! She’s such a cougar, but I am, too.

Miley is presenting Ultimate Choice for Britney Spears. I am SO excited for her. I love Britney, I grew up listening to her, and she’s a beautiful woman who always gets back up after she falls down. Britney looked great. I’m so happy for her.

Honor Society are presenting a buttload of awards. I won’t list them all. Instead, I’ll go on a rant about how AWESOME Honor Society is. They’re an AMAZING band, and they’re SO good live. You can get a play-by-play of when I saw them with a few weeks ago.

Choice Fab-u-lous. Code for Choice Gay Man? I love Miss Jay, though, so I’ll totally eat this up. Miss Jay is fierce!

Twilight just won a shit-ton awards. Saw that coming. Taylor is still a babe, though.

Jonas Brother’s awards announced and their performance. They won breakout show, tv actor comedy, redcarpet fashion icon male, music album group, and song of the summer (with miley). They’re going to sing World War III. I love this song SO much. I’m glad they chose this and Much Better instead of Paranoid. They need to show everyone what they’re capable of. This is bringing me back to the show in Boston. Joe looks like he’s about to cry (of joy, of course). They all look so good. What a great show.

Awesome Teen Choice Awards tonight. Glad I watched it. One more year until it’s on again. I wonder how that will be.

Goodnight!

Another Bulk Update

This week was more of the same. Work every day. Sleep every night. I did go out a few times to see Harry Potter in imax, and then I made some t-shirts with Colleen. But this post is just going to be some pictures from the past two weeks or so, maybe past three weeks since I don’t think I ever put up any pictures from when Laurel was here. So.. here are the photos.

playing wiffleball. in a dress. after church. =]

And that’s it. I promise I’ll be better once I start doing stuff. Haha. Now, I need to figure out how to spend the money I’ve made babysitting and whatnot. I have 30% off at Aerie/American Eagle, and I need to return a vest I bought. I think I’ll do that this week and buy some new jeans and tops because I should be all set with Aerie stuff, and then I need to go to Hollister and buy some stuff from there. I also need to go through my warddrobe and get rid of stuff from there. Oy. So much to do.

P.S. – Rumor has it that the Jonas Brothers are coming back to Boston. I need to save my babysitting money for that so I can get front row.

Sorry for Sucking

I am sorry. I suck. I’m a fail. I never update.

Well, here’s your update. My life has been the same damn thing every day. Sleep. Work. Lunch. Work. Sleep. So much fun.

Psyche!

Okay. On Thursday I did go to the comedy studio (http://www.thecomedystudio.com/) which was um.. HILARIOUS. I don’t remember the jokes, per-say, except for the offensive ones, but I do remember my reactions to the different comedians. Overall, good reactions. Some were hilarious straight through. Some were bad. Some had their ups and downs.

Overall, I’d go again.

In my live, overall, it goes over and over and nothing changes. Alex came up Sunday and we went to Breakfast Club at Taby’s and that was fun (as always).

Oh, and now, I’m passing up tickets to see Blink 182 on Thursday.

Why?

Because I can’t apparate.

Sorry For Not Updating

I know it’s been a week. I suck. Sorry. Here’s a video to make it up to you.
